How big is big?

One of my friends asked me why do your pictures take up so much disk space? Well, I have the tendency to use characters body parts for other pictures and often want high quality for my pics. This results in pictures with a resolution sometimes at about 10000x20000 pixels. The vector I did for "Kiva on the Couch" fully coloured is a tif with a file size at 1.29GB's. The largest one I ever made was about 2GB's. I suppose I should move some of these enromous files to an external hard drive...
